Levelhead
I worked on this project as a designer at Tallwave from 2016-2017. Levelhead is a guided meditation and mobile learning application geared towards companies and their employees. This client came to us with hundreds of pages of content in the form of meditation lessons with different themes and separated by categories.
Employees
For employees, the app needed to be easy to access while working, and not feel like a distraction or something that would add to their workload.
Companies
For employers, the app needed built-in feedback mechanisms for tracking employee morale, as well as a content management system to cater specific content to their teams.
The Team’s Responsibilities
My Role as a Designer
Participating in ideation workshops and sketching out ideas
User interface and component design
Working with an artist to align the visual design with unique illustrations
Prototyping the core loop of the application for testing and feedback
Presenting designs directly to the client for feedback
Working with developers to audit the working product against the intended designs
Content Hierarchy
The Levelhead team came to us with their meditation content already organized in to three levels. The largest modules are called “Tracks” and contain content with consistent themes. Each Track contains groups of exercises called “Sessions”. Sessions are groups of exercises with similar themes such as breathing or daily routines. Each Session contains three exercises. Once a user has finished the third exercise, they are taken to the first exercise in the next Session.
Exercise Types
Audio exercises are the most common form of lesson within the app, but lessons were also designed for text-only as well as video content.
Stickers
Dozens of Sticker icons were custom illustrated by a local artist. Icons were designed to be both unique and re-configurable. Sticker titles can be tailored for different teams through Levelhead’s CMS platform to reflect team values.
